Kismet denies its, Tavrin’s plan to buy stake in Yandex

MOSCOW, Nov 24 (PRIME) -- Neither Kismet nor its chief Ivan Tavrin take part in negotiations to enter capital of Internet company Yandex or owns its shares, Kismet said late on Thursday in a statement.

“Kismet denies involvement in the negotiations on investment in Yandex,” the statement read.

Forbes said earlier quoting sources that a group of investors that may comprise Tavrin and billionaire Vladimir Potanin is discussing a purchase of Yandex via a single unit representing their interests. The report said that the Yandex managers may not get voting control of the company.

Yandex announced its restructuring in November 2022. Its parent company, Dutch-registered Yandex N.V. mulls spinning off the core part of the business into a separate Russian group of companies and plans to divest from it in the future and change its name, while the Russian Yandex will keep its brand and include a number of foreign businesses.
